Has anyone ridden both the ktm 500 exc and new crf? Ive narrowed it down to these two bikes on what to get next. What would be the major diffences in the bikes other than the honda needing all the electical things and being titled? And if anyone has some pictures of the 13-14 crf 450's or the 500 exc's in supermoto trim. I think they could both be considered bike porn.:anim_peep:

^^Yep, what will it be used for.

Also, depending on where you live you may not be able to title a CRF. Or worse, they'll give you a plate, then send you a nice letter saying they want it back, that it was a mistake giving it to you in the first place.

i havent been able to ride the new CRF but i have been on the older ones.
They are pretty different.

CRF: Lightweight, motocross race bike. Short gearing, snappy power, has the cool air forks and dual exhaust.

500: Little heavier(~260lbs), enduro style-so taller gearing, smoother power delivery but similar max ~55hp. Suspension is decent, already street legal, dont have to worry about wiring and stators, electric starter.

Both may need suspension work, depends on your weight and what you want to do with the bike. Both have lots of aftermarket parts available and plenty of people run each.

I own the 500EXC but still would love to have a CRF450R race Supermoto bike. But for a street bike the 500 is way easier.
To me the CRF is a race bike, and the EXC is a street bike.

If mostly used for the street, the 500 exc will be better. Having six speeds and wide ratio tranny will better suit your riding conditions. I get my parts online and never go to a dealer for the most part. It may be an issue if you don't plan on doing your own work on the bike.

The KTM will be easier to plate, and the CRF's generally need stronger internals for them to be bullit proof. I know alot of people put TRX pistons and things in them, but Im not sure about the 14's. If your keeping the drz as a commuter id go crf, but for a one bike does it all (and you have no plans on racing) then id go 500
