Mini's at PGP?

I am looking at building a Mini Motard for fun. Are there any big "kids" running mini's around PGP? I don't want to be by myself, and I don't want to build a) something too big or b) something too small. If there aren't any other's running a goofball bike I'll stand down, but if three is someone to ride with I'll do it. I am thinking no bigger than a DRZ/KLX 110, but I don't know if I want to build a 50 sized bike just for me. Any tips, ideas?

What are the bikes in the pictures above? I see orange, is that a KTM that I've never seen before? Or are they Japanese bikes with 12" wheels? I have a line on a couple of bikes right now, but I was thinking of building a Pitster style as opposed to a converted mid-size trail bike.

Can anyone compare the sizes of an XR100, TTR125, and KLX/DRZ110? Are they pretty close to the same size? Yeah, I can search the web, but I'm laz.. I mean I want to draw on the experience of the local guys.

My bike is a TTR125 w/ yz85 forks, swingarm/shock, and brakes on 12 inch Rad wheels and Dunlop TT92 tires.
That is Trevor riding the "General Lee" 01 bike....SSR ( I think ) 140cc pitbike w/ 12 inch e-bay wheels and Dunlop TT92 tires.
Mike is on the CRF150r with 17 inch wheels......

Brian rides the scooter on 10 inch wheels.......and is faster than everyone :headscrat ....... i think we should make him run the dirt section..

Ya, those 2 guys in the photo - guess I remembered his yellow/black helmet more than the bike. Your battles in the mini class were alway good and fun to watch, don't forget about those fast scooter dudes(pavement only class) that ride too.

the 110 is much smaller and honestly can't hold the cornerspeed of the slightly bigger frame bikes (ask norm)

I have about a million miles around Pat's Acres on a XR 100 and a TTR 125 (if you are lookin for a rear 17 for a ttr, let me know).

I know MarkR has a fully prepped CRF150(f) -- the air cooled motor with 17's he would be looking to sell.

We used to battle John Brown and Norm on those bikes; until John plain just got faster than us.

About the mid size bikes, I am thinking that if I got a bike with 17's, then I have two bikes that are similar. But if I got a KLX or other horizontal engine chassis it would be a true "pit bike" that I could eventually put my daughter on. Or not. Probably not. Anyway, my line of reasoning is that I don't know if I want an underpowered bike with 17's when I could have an overpowered bike with 12's. Something about the "mostly out of control" factor, I guess. I'm not buying something tonight or tomorrow, just weighing my options. Plus, I have a road race friend with a KLX that I am this close to getting on a supermoto, so it would be fun to get his KLX decked out so I could play with him.

I dunno, I'm just snooping. The mini's look like a complete an utter blast. Thanks for everyones input. I know that I'm getting out this year, so I am sure that I'll see some of you at the track soon.

Join the mini ranks! We race with the OSB, but hopefully we will hit a few PGP rounds this year. We race kx65's.....bunch of Vids from Pats acres and Mcminville. Pitster 160 is a great bike with some mods. KLX's work fine but need a few mods to make fast ( v2 head...4 speed ..decent forks. I prefer the kx...

I am 190lb and around 6ft...the 65 works great!

vids from this year.

Bridgestones are the best tires to run. Pm me if you guys need any help!

What about jumping? I am interested in getting more info. My idea is to get a 110 and get some wheels and tires, then if I want to get more involved I'll get a big bore, 4 speed, that stuff. Oh, and suspension. Is the pitster 160 that good? I have a connection locally for parts, is it that much better than a klx/drz 110?

What about these?

We have a dirt class for the minis, some of the guys also run that.

Yes the pitster is a better bike to start with.

The klx110 needs alot of parts to go fast...better front end ( most do kx65 swap) wider wheels decent shock. We built the one in the video...143 kit / pwk28/ new shock/65 front end revalved/2.15 rims.
The 2 CL bikes are decent BUT the engine can only be modded so much and the suspensions are very soft.. They have the Honda style engines and smaller frame etc.. The pitster160 has the yx160 engine and the new ones have the z155 (both have the honda type bottom end...klx110 top end) which I think is better.
We have a guy in the club that runs the pitster 160 with a v2 head / pwk28 carb and pipe for a couple of years and it is great. I rode it and the suspension is great from the factory.
You being a taller guy would be better off with that...or a kx65 or cr85 with 12"...that is fast.

Either way run the 12" tire. You can get a new pitster z155 with 12" rims for around 2000.00

Throw on a v-2 head with a big carb and be right up front. Or you could build a killer 65/85 for around the same $$

This is what I picked up. A whole lot cheaper than those new ones but of course previous owners made sure to mess a few things up, I'm surprised it still runs. I was told it's a 2007 125x but who knows.

Contrary to my expectation, this one is oversprung for my weight just as much as your typical street bike :O

John's drz125:laughingr is for sale. Lots of mods(188cc), 17's, lots of spare parts and tires. As well as original knobby tires and original pipe. Lots of power, multiple #1 plates, fun bike to race. pm if interested.

Does anyone know where I can find some budget 12" wheels for my crf150rb? I think it would be fun to come out and run PGP with you guys. I've been looking everywhere for a set of wheels, but all the quotes I got to build a set to bolt on was going to run me $1200 with tires. I'm already in my 150r more than I wanted to be and was going to sell it and buy a 250f again to trail ride...PGP sounds like a lot of fun and would give me an excuse to keep the 150r.
See above, although that might be a bit small on the 150. Or pick up some spoked wheels on ebay just for fun.

12" Ebay wheels.

Okay, here's my list so far. I have solid prices on these three bikes, just need to find which one to line up for the big money shot. I won't list the prices (out of respect for the dealers), but I will list the price differences.
Pitster LXM155R with 12's- Ready to go, second most expensive, needs nothing to go racing.
SSR160R with dirt wheels, needs 12" motard wheels. $30 more expensive than the Pitster 155.
SR125B2 Plus 12", needs 12" motard wheels. $250 less expensive than the SSR160R, that $250 can go to buying the mags listed above.

Any advice? I have an idea, just looking to be able to blame one of you fools if something goes terribly wrong.

I saw that ad earlier, looks like one of the bikes that I have on my list. Is the 160 a bad engine? Concerns or issues?
Phil's account is clearly hacked, he's about to spend money on something that is not a basement bargain or a pile of parts in a box.
Quiet, you. It will be a pile of parts in no time flat, trust me. Plus, this will likely be the one time that I buy a new anything, so there. Well, except for helmets. All those years of scrimping and saving is paying off.
