    Default 2007 wr450 conversion project!

Hey guys! I've been a long time fan of the forum and supermotos in general, and this weekend I finally got my project started. Sold the trusty 2012 crf250x woods bike for something a bit more powerful picked up this 2007 wr450 last night. 300 miles never seen dirt before... I feel like a kid on Christmas!! Power wheelies all the way through 3rd gear. Made my 250x seem like a crf50 lol. Anyway the bike is mostly stock, it has been rejetted but no snorkel removal or ais delete.... yet. Plans are for warp9 17"s with a Cush drive hub, cycra sumo front fender, fmf full system, carb work, ais delete, throttle stop screw, yz cams eventually, and some low profile blinkers. Anyways, super stoked to have a thread of my own, comments and feedback appreciated

Host them on a imaging site like Google Photos, that's what I do. Then just link them.

A power pump 2? Is that the piece that goes with the power bowl 3? Just the facts, it is a power bowl 2.

Nice looking rims, lost 5 style points for not having matching rotors. Thanks for reminding me, I found carbon fiber case savers on eBay for my tank. They make them after you order them, might take 3-4 weeks to get them.

Nice, not sure if motomaster makes a rear brake rotor.. But this is what is on my bike right now.

Red? Mine is shiny aluminum. But as you can see the power bowl is black.

Thanks man. Had a bit of an issue with the Akra exhaust set up. It showed up missing the spring to hold the header and exhaust seal together, would this cause black smoke to pour out everywhere...?

I've been through 2 sets of the Metzler M7rr on mine now. The 160 on a 5" fit with no rub ( barely, but they do ) and wear pretty well for a SS tire.

I like them better than the PP 1,2 or 3 or the Bridgestone 16s and 20s.

Just noticed the damn thing is practically new.

As long as you are waiting for your wheels to show up you should disassemble the front end and re-grease the steering head bearings and do the same to the rear linkage. Yamaha doesn't put hardly ANY in there when they make them.

Another good preventative one is to take the shifter off and radius/round the sharp corner near the tip that will dig a good hole in the stator cover when you drop it.

Yeah, I think we should get to borrow it and practice wheelies on it. Needs some battle scars.

Yep already been thinking about re-greasing the bearings... Thanks for the reminder! it's snowing up here in Maine right now so I've got a solid 5 months to tinker. Good call on the shifter, just took a look at it and it is very sharp!! Might just go with a hammerhead. Thanks for the advice!!

I used these on my wifes bike.
They seem to be of decent quality for the price.
I wired the blue marker lights to run with the signals because theres no indicator light for the signals to remind you to turn them off.

got antsy waiting for more parts and put the sumo fender on to see what it looked like... also sold the akra exhaust as it was pretty beat up, too loud, and I didn't really like the sound. Trying to decide between a Leo Vince x3 system or a fmf mega bomb/q4 system... any input?

Thanks for the suggestion man, how long are they? I keep catching my leg up on the rear blinkers bc they're directly behind the seat on the sides of the fender. Looking for something really slim/low profile

What about a DRC unit with a 12 o'clock labs controller for the rear. No stalks to break off. I have a bike specific unit for my bike and don't feel the turn signals are sufficient for other blinda$$ motorist to see. And of course the CHP doesn't like them either.

Well slowly parts are coming in, kinda hard having enough money to build a bike and be in college at the same time but I'm trying to make it happen!! Got radiator guards, ais removal and r&d flex jet kit in today. What a pain in the ass to get the carbs out on these aluminum framed bikes!

    Naked WR!

Just cut/shape the bottom of it with an 'exacto knife' to clear the handguard mounts.
