My bike is coming along though. Just installed a set of renthal fat bars and risers. A acerbis sp? supermoto fender, Shortened the levers, new grips and when my triple clamp comes a set of probend hand guards that are already here at my place. Speaking of renthal.... awesome company... I am completely sold on them now. My bars and risers showed up at my place the day my son was born. I tried to install them thinking it was going to be a 5 min job. I ended up breaking one of the mounting bolt studs that hold the risers in place to the triple clamp. I cursed myself for my ineptitude and swallowed my pride called renthal and told them what I had done. Told them I need to purchase new mounting bolts studs... The US rep must have felt bad for me... told me he would send me a free set!!! 2 days later they showed up fedex express to hawaii... cost me nothing!!!!! I am a customer for life now.

    Default Brake set up

Just a question for the LOCAL boys what brake set up or kit do you guys recommend for a bike. I'm torn between the braking, motomaster, or magura and the other brands that are out there.

thanks for any suggestions that you guys have.

    thanks

I think alohar1 is running the motomaster flame kit front on his honda 450x... I rode it seems to want to stop on a dime. My brembo brakes are pretty sweet. but the motomasters are nice

I got the stock system with the EBC 320mm rotor and spacer. I think its a great balance between feel and power. But it does start to fade fairly quickly i think. It could be because the brake fluid needs to be flushed. Its the cheapest route to go. I'm happy enough with it right now and I don't feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

just today I installed the braking 320mm rotor and caliper relocating kit with new Galfer ceramic disc pads and a braded ss line and so far its good. From what I understand the pads have a slight break in period, but on the way home I did a couple of small stoppies and they seem to be much better than the stock so far. I will keep you guys in the loop for how they progress.

Any of you guys here in hawaii know where I can get some 2inch dia perforated tubing? I got some extra 625 smc mufflers that I am going to modify by shortening them and turn them into straight through type muffler.

Just a heads up to all Oahu SM riders, next thursday, october 4, from 4-7pm, there is a Riders Appreciation event at Hawaii Rides in Wahiawa. The ICON rep will be there with new stuff and giving out free stuff. Everything in the store will also be 25% off during the event but only if you ride there on your bike. The flyer I saw said that they would be closing the parking lot to cars and only allowing bikes in.

Any promising news about a paved race track on Oahu? I was there when HRP closed. :( I'm probably moving out there next year and right now I have three tracks within 3 hours of my house, two are within one hour.

TRACKS ARE STILL DOWN, THE CONTRACT RAN OUT AND THE OWNER HAS NO MONEY TO IMPROVE OR REPAIR. tHE TOWNSHIP THE TRACK IS IN SAYS THAT IT IS TOO LOUD... Sorry didn't know my caps was on.

The owner is trying to get the state to fund the repairs and they are not biting. He is also trying to build an all new facility somewhere else but that does not look good either.

If you invest in the Supermoto, then you will still have plenty of riding to do. We may not have a track but we know plenty of places to ride.

For those of us with dirt set-ups, we should go to kahuku one day. I haven't used my RM250 for almost a year i think. I hope it still works......

Anyone was riding on Mokapu in Kailua on Sunday?? I thought I heard a bike riding in the area, and got a glimpse of a red bike from my friends garage.

I went by hawaii rides today to check out what they have and saw joe rocket ufo jackets for $190, icon merc jackets for $160 and shift airborne jackets for $99. On Thursday these will be 25% off. I will be riding in for this event to get a jacket, they have quite a few helmets too if anyone needs one.

    Hey,
I just moved back to Oahu this summer and recently picked up an 07 DRZ400SM. Still getting it dialed in but I'll be up for some rides soon.

RE: The track, why doesn't anyone set up SM racing at the stadium? Cone it up and chalk it out. As long as it's similar to a cart track we're all set since dirt isn't a requirement (although it's nice). This was how they set up SM racing at Infineon Raceway in Sanoma.

It would probably work cause the Autocrossers do it all the time over there. We gotta ask permission and show that its legit. I think they would let us only do time trials and not race each other directly cause thats what they told the autocrossers.

I think we're going to need a really expensive insurance policy. I think an on-site medic or even an ambulance is needed too? Not to mention, a really expensive fee to use the lot.

Still could be worth looking into until we have a legit track to race on. TT's can be pretty fun.
Insurance, ambulance and fees all sound about right but if it's not going to be crazy expensive I think we might get enough racers to participate. Maybe we could piggyback on the autocross course and some how join up with them on the same day and do our races right after theirs.

maybe we could, thye might be down with that cause it could hugely offset the costs of there event.
