    Default Konker

um yeah since my other thread was shut down thanks to one member who shall remain unnamed..... I'm starting it again.

This is a legitimate thread about a legitimate bike. I am not promoting it or selling it, I was interested in it so I started a thread about it. That's not a problem is it?

Anyway, Konkerman where abouts in Calgary are you?

there is one of these across the road from my shop. It definitely gets my attention everytime I drive by. and for that price, I've considered it as a possible spare bike.

Cool article, and cool looking pictures. The Konker keeps floating back into my mind as my short budget comes into play but I just cant stand the fact that I would hardly be able to jet out to the cabin or hop on the higway for a ride.

    Here is a Photo.

this is partially in response to the other post in saying they were going to turbo their KSM200 first.....

roughly 3 days of work and some piping... well and a turbo. few things to finish and do not mind the welds by no means are we welders or ever claimed to be.

yes it would def void the factory warranty.

as for my outlook on it....

I think it will be fun, that is the reason I built it. not for speed or power or to be faster than anything else, just because I enjoy fabricating and it is something different, it is not another DRZ or WR....

Plus I like to support the little guy in the big scheme of things, all the folks at Konker are great. Thought I would support a Canadian Company.

On top of that I just enjoy the bike, I have driven basically everything available in North America and out of them all this bike does stand out in a sense as it is fun, I am passed the point where bigger is better or this brand does whatever, now I ride bikes and just enjoy myself... not to show off and I like little bikes as they are always overlooked but in honesty most of the older (25+) guys/girls on this board started out on smaller stuff... hell of alot of XL185's, XR200's, XT's and DR's and there is the point when you ask yourself... why did i spend 12+ hours a day on that underpowered machine..... its fun

ok maybe a turbo is showing off a little :P

yes, great bike, especially around the city, I don't know how much highway travelling I would do with the current gearing, going 2 teeth up on the front would loose a little torque feel but I think then it would be alot better.

Before I even rode I modified the exhaust to remove baffles, ground out restrictive welds at the front, removed the exhaust gas recirc stuff. I am a big guy and it hauls me around fine.... in no way would I win a race but I can get out of the way pretty easy.

I also find the front suspension a little too soft for me, the rear feels great but I find the front dives pretty easy.

I like the look of it (minus the decals on the front) and based on the thread link I posted before, other owners love it too.

Mr Sector couldn't have put it better! - the ksm200 will reach 120 - 125km/r so it will reach high-way speeds, however it's not that much fun on the highway - that being said... are any supermotos much fun on the highway?

You have the luxury of very cheap goods because of the size of your market. There are more people in California than all of Canada.

A DRZ that you can buy for 2500, would cost me........

We didn't get Husky SM's until very recently, here's a used one for cheap.

God don't even get me started on the price of beer. 12 bottles of my favorite brew will set me back $23.60 ! (they're all that price BTW) When I come down to the states I realize how badly we get pounded in the ass by the Govt' for taxes. The exact same beer is less than half the price.

I haven't seen it, but I usually put my blinders on and head for the Molson Canadian. A new one I tried lately was an apricot beer from Quebec, very tasty.

Anyway, we've got Dude beer, does that count? It's about the cheapest I think.

I could get a DRZ, then I would have a DRZ...

    I could have bought an R6 but instead I bought a TZR250...

Personally I like to ride things that are different and that usually strike up a conversation with someone that is an enthusiast, wether or not you would buy one yourself you know if you seen one sitting there you would ask what it is like...

As for the rest of it. the important facts.

I have driven the bike, The engine will handle 8 psi of boost, I still have alot of work to do with an oil delivery system that I can for sure rely on and some fueling work.

It hauls great and sounds slow, it is a weird feeling....

Thumbs up for doing something different chap.
there's always people who'll put down others doing something different.

I would say that is an accurate weight based on the feeling and such of the bike.

I am just waiting on an oil cooler and some other bits now to get everything finished up

I checked the website and when you click on "Find a dealer" it just says "Coming Soon". Is there anything in the works for AB or SK? (It also doesn't mention that model.)

Im not sure its just the pictures or what but you might want to make sure the oil return does not go up hill at all. Make it as vertical as possible or you could run into the turbo smoking and eventually blowing the seals.

Cool project dude! Keep it up!

A WR costs more than twice the price of the Konker. Is it twice the bike? I don't know but $3000 seems like a reasonable price considering the motor is essentially a Suzuki part. Chuck the tires and get something decent and you have a nice little urban motorcycle.

Sumo is not about speed and power.

We had a track night recently and several guys ran a WR around the track and came back proclaiming it to be a ton of fun.

what is it about the KSM200 you like over the DR200? Is it asthetics / fit&finish / - i'm curious to know your reasoning!

My reasoning is simple ... i found the dr200 to be the perfect bike for my girlfriend(engine size and bike weight) ... I myself ride drz 400 sm so naturally she wants the same style ... thats where the konker ksm200 comes in ... same engine as the dr200(with a little more bottom end), the supermoto looks and a price you cant beat.

I have just started a facebook group Supermoto Edmonton ... and I will probably tell people to buy the ksm200 as a beginner tard or even as a second bike.

hey - Did you end up picking up a KSM200 from the guys over at Echo Cycle? You should peep the comments people have been saying over in Ontario & Quebec.

You can buy a Honda CBR125R here in Canada for $2800.00 [plus freight and PDI] for a year old model. New current models are only $3400.00. Plus its a Honda and its fuel injected.

I wonder what the resale value of a Konker is? Also I suspect in a few years the chinese bike are going to be a lot better quality.
