now that thing is nuts.....i really like the chain braced seat. It reminds me of indian larry's chopper frame that was made from chain.

Here are a few pics from my trip to "tail of the dragon" i took over the weekend. I rode a 1985 Honda Sabre 700........i couldn't keep up with my buddies that were all on 06' and new crouch rockets. Even so, i still had a great time riding. Any one who rides needs to make it there at least once. Stay humble though and leave your ego at the base of the mountain......some guy was killed Saturday on the mountain.

^tree of shame....bike parts from wrecks

    P.S.
I plan on rebuilding the forks this weekend on the SM project.

Been thinkin of makin something similar for logging roads and general madness & mayhem.
Motors been built by a Jordan racing mechanic 642cc makin about 100+hp.

Went to the GP last weekend..... For me it doesn't come close to Formula 1 when they were here (hope they come back) but, its better than the Indy 500. For me ovals are just to plain.....i'm all the about the road / street courses and hearing the cars bang through the gears and have braking contest into the corner........the just gets my blood pumping thinking about it

Getting closer and closer.....I need to repair where the exhaust stud threads into since it was damaged when the bike was dropped but, other than that its ready to be started.

    To do list to ride:

    Fix exhaust stud
    Get pod filters
    Jet kit
    Sync carbs
Send gas tank to get finished

To do list for the street:

    Head light
    Tail light
    Turn signals
    Street tires
    Insure
    Plate

    ^ straight pipe exhaust

^just enough room for pod fitlers....need to pick up some wire loom also

Needs jets and the carbs need to be sync'ed.... #2 cylinder is not firing, i think the pilot might have gotten clogged again.

good job matey, bike sounds great, have to agree carbs need to be sync'd and pilot must be blocked as it was kicking in with the easy start spray.

Lately i've been busy working on my car (boosted sbf 302 in my 240sx), but i finally put a little time in on the bike. I went and got some more supplies to finish my sync tool and got a few drill bits so i can increase my main jet size. As of now i have a 40 pilot jet and a 106 main jet. Tomorrow i plan to sync the carbs (attempt # 2) and get the stuff needed to make the choke fast idle adjustable (thanks loudhvx). Earlier today when i adjusted the float level as best i could (time consuming as hell and my first timing do it). After that i took out the plugs to take a look at them and seems like #1 was running lean compared to the others and that is the one i had to raise the float level the most. I hope tomorrow goes well and i should be able to get on her a little bit (past 1/8 throttle) fingers crossed for tomorrow

nice build x2 (turbo SBF in a 240 sounds like a riot). not to get this off topic, but do you have a link for that build somewhere?

If your asking if i have bottomed them out then no, but i've grabbed as much from brake as i can with out locking up the front tire. The front tire clears the header and i like how the atf is acting vs regular fork oil. The heavier weight helps with having that heavy pig of a engine

not yet. I picked up some tires for it and thats about it over winter. I stored it at my uncles house so i could work on my car. Once i finish the car (probably end of April) i'll bring the bike back to my house to finish it up. I'm going to use two dirt bike silencers for the exhaust. If my buddy doesn't get the tank finished i'm thinking about making my own from scratch (sheet metal tank).

Why can't you just add another tube in front of the original headstock? Maybe find some other frame and whack off the tube and weld that sucker on? If the tube is 1.5" in dia. then the new tube would be 1.5" further forward. You could easily jig it up using the triples, maybe find a complete front with triples and go from there. No cutting of the original frame, just a simple extension. Easy enough to box it in for strength when you are done.

I already spaced out and racked the front end. The reason i didnt go get another tube is because even finding a trashed frame from someone would put be back 50$. I just bought a sch40 1.5" piece of pipe from the hardware store for 5$. I braced the $hit out of the front end and once i get the tank finished and the bike running good i'm going to add a little more. I have to pull the engine to shim the cams so while i have the engine out i'm going to add little gussets where ever i can. Dont want this sucker coming apart when i take her to tail of the dragon

Glad you pushed through and got it finished.
Most frank'/freak bikes get bailed on and never completed.

    Sounds good and runs clean.

    Congrats on the build.

Who knows but, i'm feeling like a cafe racer style bike is up my alley. I'm liking the older bikes right now. Maybe i'll buy another kz550 and make it a cafe.... It really depends on what i can get out of the ykz550 build. If i can get at least 1k i'll have another bike with in a couple months. Its not completely finished for what i had planned, still needs lights and the tank finished and some one who knows how to tune carbs. I borrowed the tank off my pit bike project i just finished....
