    Default Antifreeze

Don't forget to drain your water this winter.

I'm thinking I shoud do it before it gets so cold I don't want to be in the garage. I'm too lazy to turn on the propane heater.

Antifreeze is a colored liquid with similar, although somewhat greater, thickness (viscosity) to water. Modern Antifreeze is an advanced derivative of Ethylene Glycol. Usually bright green but any color can be used. It is poisonous and unfortunately quite sweet and tasty, so care must be taken that pets do not get any of the stuff. Cats and dogs will die very quickly if they drink even small amounts. The unique characteristic of antifreeze is the boiling and freezing points are significantly higher and lower than water. The material is designed to transfer heat from the engine to dissipate over the radiator. It boils way up there near 250C or around 550 Fahrenheit and does not freeze until 70 -100 below zero Fahrenheit. It mixes readily with water to make a diluted mixture that still retains a high boiling point and a lower freeze point.

Its viscosity DOES NOT change with temperature as another answerer stated, actually remaining quite stable throughout its entire liquid state.

This way the car does not boil over as easily in the heat nor freeze solid in cold nights in the winter... Make sense? hope that helps - appreciate your vote!

I can't afford to play all year round. If I ever am able I may have to move south or just travel in the local off season. Having a girl for the winter would be nice, but that defeats the purpose of financial recovery. Unfortunately my job has a lot to do with being established, I'd take a big pay cut if I relocated. Oh well, I'm fortunate enough to be able to do it when I can, glad Esmra is fairly cheap, wish Nesba wasn't an arm and a leg.

I wish it was nice all year. That would be amazing.

Yep, I keep forgetting to pick some up.
I was going to start a thread for people to remind me before it gets too late.
So if I dont respond to this thread by Thanksgiving weekend, someone or all send me a PM to remind me to do it.

I can't afford to turn on the propane heater. Propane makes race gas seem cheap.
