Yes the place that damaged my wheels was a SHOP as stated in the first paragraph, NO the customs DEALERSHIP my uncle worked and now consults for is not a shop, nor did I ever describe it as one.

If the so called "custom dealership" sells REAL custom bikes it IS a shop. If there is not a shop at the dealership, they obviously aren't selling custom bikes. Most places don't do much welding and paint on the showroom floor.

Since you're fairly new to SM, let me say the BIGGEST reason people like these style of bikes is you can ride them where ever you want, you can throw them on the pavement and pick them up and continue. This is what the bikes are designed for, you don't have $1,000's in plastic body work that gets F'd up in every lowside. Scratches happen, it's part of the game. You can't sweat the small stuff, it'll just give you a heart attack. IDK if you're married or have kids, but as angry as you have gotten with us I can only imagine you've brought the anger out at home and work. I feel bad for your family, your co-workers, and anyone else who has felt your wrath from this incident.

Is it right they scratched your rims, no, is worth getting that upset about? HELL NO! Scratched rims aren't an oddity, you're not the only one who this has happened to, but you are the only one making such a big deal out of it.

I had no choice but to point out that you misinterpreted which post Aloha was talking about. You seem to have gotten lost in anger on this thread, and jumped on Aloha for not reading your post, when it was actually you who failed to read his previous post. It seemed obvious to me what he was referring to.

Your post didn't rally the troops the way you expected, things didn't go your way, you had a bad day, but its not the end of the world.

Its not a shop though its a dealership. you wouldnt call the local toyota dealership a shop, even though they have a service department that acts as a repair shop. My uncle didnt work in the repairs shop, he worked in the dealership portion, just as a car salesman would work at the dealership, not the shop that repairs cars that people bring in.

my drz has 4600 miles on it, so that was the first time I changed the tires, from the dunlop 208s that came on the bike, to the continentals.
I didnt put 4600 miles on the motorcycle in 1 month. When you buy an sm i dont think your automatically registered on this forum.

Im not sure I did misinterpret anything. since the only shops and dealerships I was talking ab were the dealership uncle works at, and shop that damaged my rim, he said I did call it a shop in the first paragraph, and that would be correct as I never confused the two for something they werent. Im pretty sure he misinterpreted as you did now. If not you can explain what your talking about. cause I dont know

    haha its my fault. lol

im still trying to figure out how the excel/talons got on there.. so i can only assume since it had tires on there already that you bought the bike used and the previous owner had them installed. correct??? there for if im correct in my guessing the wheels are not new and are in fact used and no where near the 1400 val;ue you are claming. in fact in unscratched condition they are worth less than what it would cost for new hoops and have them installed and trued. just making a point.

so i will stop being a trouble maker.

Funny! I had some 17 inch car wheels from overseas and had local shop put them on. They did not realize they had to mount them from the back...gouged them a bit. They offered to buff out the burr...cry a tear and move on. The paint and sharpie ideas are great.

Really the only way to go that isn't super pussiefied...as pointed out earlier...say they buy you a new rim...you going to rebuild the whole thing? Total waste of money. Your bike is sissified, pretty toy...you should have realized that may happen...hard to do before you get screwed true...but now you know. LOL If you had did more research it may not have happened.

The only cost effective way to fix is buff and touch up paint. Would be funny to hand you a painted rim and send you on your way to pay someone else to assemble it all.

I guess it is the lawyerly attidude everyone loves to hate...this is why insurance rates are so high. People trying to collect $2000 on a $40 dollar job. haha

Oh, also...would love to see a whole South Park episode about this!!!!!

Also...this thread really reminded bigtime of the guy who liked to slap people. He would get upset and start talking about slapping peoples faces if something wasn't done immediately!! haha

x2. All I see SO FAR is not a big deal... I don't see the BFD...

All going after getting them to replace them is going to do is make changing wheels cost more...

Ya see, they're insured for damage... And so long as ppl take advantage of that, they will have to pay more and more for coverage... And in order to off-set these costs, they'll have to charge more in the hot area that's making them pay more premiums anyway...

So keep it up... It's not like the same shit happens every fawking day to doctors, medical staff, insurance rates, etc...

    I thought they were damaged...

i used to wrench at a shop and assuming the rims were in the condition you say they were. You should have a new wheel coming to you. the tech didnt pay attention to what he was doing and didnt adjust the arm on the tire machine out enough so it was off of your rim. i would bitch and bitch and bitch i have seen it more than once you will get a new wheel if you keep on them. thats just my 2 cents. the shops make good money so theres no reason you should have to deal with this shit.

I just slap new tires on and go for a ride. If all seems well, then why bother? If it is obviously out of balance when I ride, I'll do something about it, but it just hasn't happened yet.

if im paying a "professional" 96$ and hour to do it i want it done right. When i was turning wrenches i screwed a guys wheel up once and the shop took care of it. I got a slap on the wrist and it never happened again. if the shop is going to hire techs they need to do the job right. if they cant they need new techs. so if you brought your entire bike in for an engine job and they forgot to put the drain plug in all the way and your bike blows up on the way home whos responsible? the shop same goes for this situation. the tech was careless and this is what happens. i do my own tires so this a none issue for me. just saying as a former tech this just seems like a poor shop thats all.

Yes, I think we can all agree IT IS THE SHOP'S FAULT. The issue is where to pick your battles. Obviously, if the guy's engine grenaded b/c of the shops work, 100% of us would be behind him to going after the shop to get it fixed. The thing most of us can't understand is why this guy is willing to through so much work/effort/stress over such a (relatively) small incident. Then again I'm one of those that accepts fries at a fast food restaurant that are warm and not hot without complaining and waiting the 5 minutes for to complain and get new fries fried up so i can have piping hot fries.

It's like complaining to a shop that their 5 mile test drive to test your car (Which wasn't completely necessary b/c of the work done), caused unneeded wear and tare on your truck and you need brand new tires/drive train. Sure maybe .000000001'' of tire came off during those 5 miles, but is it worth complaining about? Pick and choose your battles, life is too short.

Yup, do it yourself and no problems... I once trusted my only local shop to change a rear tire on my dirtbike and 50 dollars later and a few minutes of ride timelate the tire went flat because they forgot the rim lock...

Needless to say I install my own tires now, no need to pay someone else for something you can do yourself with a little effort.

the local guy i go to to get random things fixed. wont install tires unless you buy them from him. Due to insurance reasons.

He's a cool guy though. I don't mind spending the extra money. he helps me out with a lot of stuff and doesn't charge for it. Some small local shops are great. He's about the only one near me i trust.

I have a Harbor Freight tire Changer and the clamp part slips and lets the wheel turn.......scratching the wheels! That's when I break out the black magic marker. I really need to sell it as I just use my tall trash can and 3 tire irons to change tires.

    Whoops.....there it is again!

How about selling some rebranded sharpies or paint pens as rim touch up markers. Do the usual 25% mark up that companies do when they take something generic and make it "specialized" for a certain industry.
