Well i went out with my buddy Bryan (CarbonB) to mess around at a spot we practice at. I also got some new AlpineStars boots and wanted to try them out (Thanks Wifey).

    We took this quick pic.

Now right after we took that pic i went out again and i had trouble shifting into 3-4-5-6 gears. I was blaming it on the boots. But then i went out and made a point to shift into the gears easily and found it VERY hard to shift, any harder and im sure i would have broke the lever. So first thing that comes to mind it my tranny is shot..... So i tore it all down as i had a new VHM cylinder, Vertex piston, and a new gasket set to install any ways. After some research i found that my clutch basket was grooved to hell which makes it very hard for the clutch to work well. Luckily i had already ordered a clutch. But now i need to order a Billet basket. Looks like im going to contact Performance Engineering (PE Racing) for my Clutch Basket. Thank God there local. Hopefully ill be ready for the Track day at Stark.

KTM sells a Clutch removal tool for $80+. Ouch, plus id have to order it. So i made my own by using one of the steels in the clutch pack. Welded a handle on and worked like a charm!

    Clutch Basket..... :(
Notice the "Groves" from the clutch plates on the inside of the baskets "teeth".

On a good note the Piston and VHM Head are on.

    More soon...

Wow that thing is really grooved! Sucks you have to buy a new one but it's going to feel awesome with the new basket/plates/springs. Braaaaap

    Thanks man!

Well i went down to Performance Machine (PERACING.COM) and picked up my billet clutch basket. Great looking part with a very reasonable price! The Hinson was $250 and the HIGHLY recommended PE Racing basket was $129! Oil change was a quick with the "Oil slots". They are designed for better lubrication / cooling for the clutch. Comes Hard coated. They make them for most minis. Worth the money and was easy to install.

Is it just the angle of the photo that makes it look like the pads only contact the outer 25% or so of the rotor?

Must be the angle of the dangle. Are you talking about the close up pic on the first page? The pad covers just above the rotor rivits to just about the out side tip of the rotor. Look at the pic on top of the page. The whole rotor looked (color wise) like the inside carrier of the rotor. Were good to go.....

Thanks, I'm still trying to find a better caliper to mount on my mini. Unfortunately it's 46mm spacing.

How is this bike over-rated????????? Its one of the sickest ktm 85sx that i have ever seen. When some one always puts custom made/hand made parts on their bike, somebody always got neg things to say. You should see this bike at the track!! You live in Florida why don't you show up to any of the races? or is your bike just for show

thanks for the pointless post. lol

Well the verdict is in. It was my basket. The bike shifts like butter now. I finished her up just in time for a track day at Stark FL supermoto track. The new VHM head is a real benefit. I found out that i have the insert that moved the power to the mid-top end, which i desperately needed. It was much easier exiting slow hair pins.

Snapped a few pics and glamor shots.

    Messing around.

Sorry no dirt section pics, it was just me and my buddy at the track. We had it all to ourselves!

    Artsy fartsy.....
