    Question klx250sf @ high speeds

For the people who have test ridden or own them, how does the bike handle at ~70mph? Is the engine overly buzzy at that speed and is the bike stable (i.e. no head shake?)

Sorry if there is another thread like this but I've only been able to find the top speed people get, not how it handles.

I'm considering buying this bike for my DD duties so any help is greatly appreciated.

i just recently bought a klx 250 sf , before i put a two bros. pipe on it it had a little bit of engine noise at 70-80 ,with the new pipe it not only sounds good but no more noise and bike flows a lot better. but as far as the handling goes havnt got any head shake , sticks pretty good. the bike is def not a powerhouse but it is fun to ride.

Thanks green and jester. I've heard the bike struggles on the highway, so I'll need to find new routes (with lots of sidewalks.) I just wanted to know if the bike would get sketchy on me if I even needed to take it on the interstate. Guess now I have no reason NOT to get one. Yay for me.

The only problem I've had with extended period of 70 ish is a fuel starvation problem. Pretty sure it's a venting issue. I'll find out when it comes apart this winter.

I had mine rejetted day 1 cuz it wouldn't run right, did an airbox mod. And it cruises 70 pretty well, its not screaming at that speed but it doesn't like to climb a whole lot more. Bike is a traffic jam weapon, its extremely nimble and it feels almost weightless, specially compared to my drz.

I have had mine about ten months. I used to get a massive headshake above 70. I tried everything, made sure head was tight and so on. The problem was a combination of sh*tty stock front tire (get rid of the touring tire) and balance it too. Solved most of the problems with my full exhaust and every free mod out there it runs great at even 85 and splits lanes better than any other bike out there! I've got the paint transfer on my hand guards to prove it. Still gonna get that BB351 kit though.

I would love a 330 or 351 kit but losing the warranty if shit ever hit the fan makes me nervous. Does anybody have any jet setting (or find any online) for just a slip-on? Most of the stuff I find relating to jetting involves people going off the deep end with modding.

BTW, isn't there something about the factory 300 kit not voiding warranty?

Go look at the Dynojet site and read the pdf for the stage 1 and 2 kit for this bike. Pretty good info that should answer your questions. I'd have to say the the 300 kit would definetly void the warranty.

Trust me, the warranty is not worth much anyway. Almost any mod voids the factory warranty. Screw it, I'm gonna do it!

My thought exactly. KK buy a service manual, it's an educational experience.
