what bike makes a good mini supermoto

Hey can anyone help me on what kind of mini supermoto bike would be cheap and fun to start with. Iam 205lbs and 5'11 . Any suggestions would help.

Are you planning on racing, or is this just going to be a play bike. If you are going to race it (good chance that you are, it is addicting!), you should check your local race group to find out classes and what bikes run in what classes. Also take a look and see which classes have the most turn out, and similar skill level to where you will be.

I personally like the kx65. They can be found cheap, and converted for pretty cheap. They make good power and handle well for a mini. Also, they are pretty simple on the maintenance side. I am 6' 205 lbs and can fit on a kx65, although I am sure I look like a circus bear on it!

Depending on the classes that run where you are, you may also consider an XR100, TTR125, KLX110, or possibly NSR50.

thanks. I do like the kx65 so maby i will go with that. There is a indoor gokart track here and a outdoor track that they race them at so going to try that.

There is an old kart track in Barnesville, GA that is okay for practice. The Herrin's track in Dublin, GA is the nicest facility and track that is near Atlanta, Middle Georgia Kart Track.

If you want good tires then you need the wider 12" rims.

if you can find a Michelin Pilot SC 14" for the front they work quite well if your building a budget bike............ and a TT92 out back..... you can even run the front TT92 out back and have a decent tire profile..... many people do it

BTW, you can lace up a rear rim on the front of your kx65 and go racing on 12" tires. Won't be the most ideal set up, but better than the 14" front and cheaper than building a set of wheels with wider (2.15 or 2.5") rims. All depends on your budget and skill level starting off. I would get a couple of wider rims (approx $100 each) and lace them to stock hubs and mount up tires.

Bet bang for the buck is a 80's or 90's 2S aircooled Mini MX machine

tons of FACTORY parts available and aftermarket as well.

Don't be fooled by "new" tech......... there are ooooooooold bikes out here that PHLY

My local mini frEEk is buying up some older 2S machines for pimping at low dollars, i mean less than $200 a bike.......... another carefully spent $300, some expert massaging and they riiiiiiiiiip

Best thing about them is the parts availability, ease of custom or adaptation, and Japanese reliability.

Easy to have multiple wheel sets and ride it MiniMX, ICE, Pavement, SUMO.......

Mini Supermoto idea is the brainchild of Parts Unlimited brand manager "Rocket" Rob Buydos and has been very well received. So far four races have been held at The Lube with upward of 1,000 spectators at each event. It's a perfect match as the races are held on regular "Bike Nights" so the crowd consists of nearly all bikers of some form or another. The August 31st race was a special one as Buydos was able to arrange to have several of the factory motocross big-rig transporters stop by on their way to the Steel City National held on the following weekend. There was the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit rig on hand as well as Team Red Bull/KTM, Team WBR Suzuki, the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center and a Thor/Parts Unlimited bus and transporter. It was quite an impressive site.
With the remnants of Hurricane Katrina passing through the area earlier in the day the track was a little wet and slippery as Racer X Illustrated's Jason Weigandt would find out. He unfortunately went down twice in practice aboard a bike borrowed from freestyle motocross legend Trevor Vines. With practice over the track started developing some good lines in the dirt section, but was still pretty slick on the pavement. It was now time to race. Supermoto closely follows motocross in format. There are two motos run in each class and the winners are decided by their combined race results.
